Hey y'all!
I'm Courtney, a Texas mom with a family full of love and laughter. We adore crafting, baking, playing games, and soaking up every special moment, from birthdays to holidays like Diwali, Christmas, and Halloween.
My husband's family hails from Hyderabad, and we're lucky to have friends from all across India and the world. One thing I've realized while traveling around India with the girls is that they love a little extra spice in their lives!
That's why I started TexIndianMama. It's my way of sharing the vibrant culture of India with kids growing up in Texas and beyond, just like mine.
Think colorful activity books, yummy recipes, fun language lessons, and exciting holiday celebrations.
We'll be exploring everything from Diwali diyas to Texas tacos, all while building a warm community for multicultural moms like us.
This project is more than just a website; it's a passion born from my love for India and my desire to connect with other families. So come along, join the TexIndianMama family, and let's discover the magic of India together! ✨
Dhan'yavādālu (Thank you!)

Some of our very closest friends are from Kerala. I have loved celebrating Onam with them over the years, eating cherished recipes that have been handed down for generations, and learning about their beautiful language Malayalam.
Our friends have taught me a few Malayalam phrases, but I'm still a beginner. Malayalam has such a lyrical, poetic sound to it. I find the scripts to be so elegant as well.
I'm excited to share this Malayalam coloring book with our friends' children. It will be a fun way for them to explore their heritage language and feel closer to their roots. The illustrations of traditional art, clothing, and landscapes will bring back warm memories for their parents too.
Learning more about Malayalam through this book will also deepen my own understanding of our friends' rich cultural background. I feel so fortunate to have been welcomed into their community and experienced their traditions firsthand. This coloring book will be a perfect Onam gift this year to celebrate our cross-cultural friendship.

When we moved into our first home with our newborn daughter, I met my dear friend Swati and her husband while pushing our strollers around the neighborhood. Over the last nine years, we've shared so many holidays and Diwali celebrations with his parents and in-laws, who speak Tamil. Like all Indian celebrations, there was always incredible food, laughter, and an effort to learn some new words in each other's languages.
He taught me a few Tamil phrases, and I did my best to keep up during conversations with his relatives. Though Swati and Akshay's sweet family has since moved away, our kids remain pen pals to this day.
I'm delighted I can now share this Tamil coloring book with both our them over video calls to allow them to explore another rich Indian language and culture.
Our cross-cultural friendship is one of my most treasured. I feel so fortunate our kids have been able to grow up embracing one another's traditions. This coloring book will keep their bond strong and give them an appreciation of India's linguistic diversity.
One day at our local playground, when my kids were just toddlers, we met the lovely Disha and her two boys. Her kindness and passion for learning instantly drew me to her. Over the years, she's always shared about the many books her sons are reading and their global adventures.

Disha's family speaks Gujarati at home, like many Indian regional languages that are seldom represented in kids' activities. I realized our children deserve to see themselves reflected in books and coloring pages as much as any other culture. So I set out to create this Gujarati coloring book to help fill that need.
Though my kids don't speak Gujarati, making this book allowed them to be exposed to the beautiful scripts and culture of Disha's heritage. And her boys will get to color artwork featuring traditions familiar to their family.
I'm so glad my playground friendship with Disha has grown into a cross-cultural bond between our families. By learning from one another, we teach our children empathy. I hope this coloring book will continue building connections between our kids. Exploring traditions outside their own gives them a chance to find common ground despite differences.
